Ostra
An identity for a seafood restaurant group, so three very different rooms feel like one family.
The brief
Ostra runs three seafood restaurants, each opened at a different time with its own look.
The owners wanted the venues to read as one group without losing what makes each room its own.
What I did
I started with the menus, because that is where guests spend the most time with a brand. The wordmark grew out of the handwriting on the first kitchen’s chalkboard.
From there I built a small kit: one mark, one serif, a ring that changes color for each venue, and a few rules the staff can use without me.
What changed
All three venues now open under one name. Menus, signs and uniforms all come from the same kit, so a new room can be dressed in weeks, not months.
