Fieldnote
A design system for a field-research platform, so a small team can ship new tools without starting from scratch.
The brief
Fieldnote helps researchers collect notes, photos and recordings in the field. Every new tool had been designed from scratch.
The team asked for one shared library that designers and engineers could both trust.
What I did
I audited every screen in the product and grouped what I found into a short list of components. Most of the differences were accidents, not decisions.
Then I set up tokens for color, type and spacing, built the components in design and code side by side, and wrote short usage notes for each one.
What changed
40%
faster interface builds
New screens now start from the library. The team builds interfaces faster, and the product looks like one product again.
